about

I wrote this song for my 1 year old daughter, Ellie, using certain passages and verses from the book Proverbs. I want her to know what is most important for a woman - the fear of God - although the world will often tell her something different. Passages used in this song include Proverbs 1:7, 2:1-22, 3:5-6, and 4:20-27. The chorus comes from 31:30.

lyrics

Dear daughter of mine
Would you listen to the words I sing
As I borrow a line
From the wisdom of the wisest king

Guard your heart, love
‘Cause the world can sing a song untrue
And that way is dark love
So let wisdom sing over you

Cause charm’s a deceiver
And beauty betrays a girl
So wear love like a diamond
The fear of God like a string of pearls
And you will be beautiful
Beautiful my girl

Fear God with your whole heart
For He is God, and we are not
Seek wisdom like a precious jewel
And let His love adorn you

Chorus

And if one day
True love you find
Let wisdom make
You a beautiful wife

And if one day
You have lost your way
Trust in the One
Who makes crooked paths straight

Chorus
