Habakkuk's Prayer (Habakkuk)

from The Scripture to Music Project DEMOS [A Sides] by Caroline Cobb

/

about

Taken directly from Habakkuk 3:17-19. In the beginning of the book, Habakkuk questions God's justice as he anticipates His judgment on Judah through Babylon. But by the end, Habakkuk trusts God - as evidenced by this beautiful prayer. As Job blessed God's name even in the midst of personal disaster, Habakkuk blesses God's name and vows to rejoice in Him even in anticipation of national disaster.

lyrics

Though the fig tree does not blossom
And no fruit be on the vine
Though the fields all will fail
And the flock we cannot find

Still I will rejoice
I will take joy in the Lord
The God of my salvation
He is my strength
He makes my feet like the deer
To dwell in the high places
And still I will rejoice

From Habakkuk 3:17-19
