This song is kind of a fun, playful take on the book of Judges. You'd probably think it was pretty creepy and possessive if you didn't realize it was from God's justified point of view. The Bible does describe God, however, as a jealous husband (Exodus 34:14). In the book Judges, God's people go through a vicious cycle: worshipping other gods, God judging them for their adultery against him, repenting, and then falling away again.
