about

This song was written for my friend Carolyn, who recently suffered the loss of her mom. We actually had a miscommunication while we were talking about which Psalm she wanted a song from... The actual Psalm she took great comfort in was Psalm 143, but I accidentally wrote from Psalm 142. Thankfully, the two chapters are pretty similar in their theme.

lyrics

With my voice, I am crying out
All my pain I am pouring out
All my sorrows spilling out
To you

There is no safe place for my soul
There is no shelter from the arrow
No one sees me here alone
Do you?

Still you are my refuge
You are my only hope
And you are my portion
When no one sees, I know you know

When my spirit faints inside
When my heart gives up the fight
Will you hear me when I cry
To you?

Oh morning come!
And swallow up the night
Set me free
That I may praise you in the light
My foes will flee
Like shadows from the sun
The darkness leaves
And you will come
